Self-Care For Health Care Providers

Workshops for healthcare providers offer accessible take-home yoga skills that support the nervous system. We focus on skills aimed at mitigating stress and burnout risk, and that address mental unrest in its various forms.  No previous yoga experience is necessary . . . and, you do not have to be flexible in your body! Psychology/psychoeducation is woven into each workshop illustrating body-mind connections that are well researched and that map onto applying self-care.

We will:

  • Explore various yogic postures and flows, yogic breathing techniques, and mediations tailored to harmonise the physical body and nervous system, settling mental unrest and integrating life experiences.
  • Complete brief psychoeducation around the nervous system responses, stress, and the importance of completing the stress cycle, burnout and where yoga fits as a support. We will also look at the window of tolerance, polyvagal theory and the vagus nerve in relation to the demands we face in our role as healthcare providers and the use of yoga. Here, the focus is to learn to use yoga as a tool to either downregulate or upregulate the nervous system depending on where you are at on any given day/week. We will also use yoga to micro-dose stability into the nervous system where a quick re-set is needed.

CPD hours can be logged against these workshops across various health provider disciplines (psychology, paramedicine, nursing, etc) …but please do check this against AHPRA’s CPD spiel and/with your HR dept. Certification of completion can be provided.
